About us

We are a multi-disciplininary club based at the Virgin Active club in Falmer, Brighton.
We’re also┬ámembers of Virgin Active, which allows us to take advantage of the training facilities that the club offers.

We are a friendly and welcoming group with diverse abilities and interests. We range from complete novices to competitors in world class events.

Club members meet weekly for swim coaching, running and cycling both for training and for fun. We travel far and wide to support each other. We offer advice and camraderie not judgement and we love to eat cake!

We run two great events each year – see the buttons below for details.

This morning we responded to a call from a diligent member of the public who reported a stranding of dead cetacean to us on one of the beaches along the Undercliff. On arrival we identified the animal as a Common dolphin, which was confirmed by the Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme (CSIP - an arm of the National History Museum), once reported to them. We report all strandings along our coast to the CSIP for conservation purposes and statistics. This particular individual is in good enough condition for post-mortem, and we will soon learn of the fate of the poor creature. We hope that it did not die as result of human interference. Fact: the last cetacean to die on our shores (that we know of) was almost exactly a year ago, and it was a Harbour porpoise near Saltdean, killed as a result of by-catch (caught in commercial fishing nets). If you ever find a stranded dolphin or porpoise or other marine animal, please call: Live strandings: RSPCA 0300 1234999 British Divers Marine Life Rescue 01825 765546 Dead strandings: UK (all species including turtles and basking sharks): CSIP 0800 652 0333 All agencies work together as part of a national marine animal rescue network.
